Cervantes Theatre has been one of the main cultural hubs of the city since its inauguration in 1921.
In 1922 the actress Conchita Robles was killed by her ex-husband just when she was about to start her performance on the stage. Since then, people say that some strange noises can be heard at times in the theatre and some strange things happen inside of it.
The province of Almería was well know as movies setting during the 60s and 70s as it offered good weather and light conditions form filming. In addition the inland landscape reminds very much of the American West.
Every year a film festival is celebrated in Cervantes Theatre, and in its sidewalk famous actors and actresses who made films in Almería lay their stars on the pavement.
